And so the Land of Golden Tarts is fast approaching its first birthday! Our 1st year went something like this.......
DECEMBER 2010
This time 12 months ago we had Santa’s Elves on overtime making the finishing bits and pieces for the Land of Golden Tarts.
Heavy snowfall in the UK was causing airport chaos, and we were hoping that X-Factor winner Matt Cardle would still be able to make it for the opening!
The Fish were all recruited, their contracts signed and agreed ,(minimum wage and paid holidays) and the Tarts enjoyed a night out in Puerto Banus to celebrate.
The doors to Tartland were opened on the 23rd Dec 2010 for people to have a look, we provided the drinks and the fish sorted the nibbles!
JANUARY 2011
January saw Team Tart grow with the gorgeous Scouse Tart aka Haylee joining the Land of Golden Tarts.
With bags of experience having ran her own salon in Scouseland she brought with her a wealth of experience and knowledge and quickly became a firm favourite, building a solid clientbase maintained to this day.
Scouses nails and beauty are legendary as are most of her clients!
January also saw the start of our advertising campaign with the Global Radio team, with Mark Peters the breakfast DJ King being our choice to bring you the latest goings ons in the Land of Golden Tarts. What we didn´t know at the time was that he would take regular pics of the Sunrise in La Cala for us and dedicate them to our Goldeness!
This DJ knows far more than a grown man ever should about Infills, Myscara and the like but we love him for it and know that our beauty secrets are safe with him!
Now, as you know, us Golden Tarts were already super pretty, but sometimes even we needed a little help to look our best. So we were excited to open our Beauty Room with treatments to include Waxing, Facials, Massage and more. We also introduced the ever popular Minx and Shellac.
FEBRUARY 2011
Two months in and we really started to get our groove on!
We had our 1st parties in the Land of Golden Tarts, still remembered to this day!
Cherry Tart, King Tart and me, the Golden one went to LA to watch professional boxer and friend to the Tarts Jamie Kavanagh fight and check out the latest beauty goings on across the pond. Look who we met too - Mickey Rouke!
Back in Tartland we held a live auction on our Facebook page where lots of people snapped up treatments at great prices for Valentines gifts for their loved ones!
MARCH 2011
March and we saw an influx of new Tarts with the start of our Wee Tartan Tart aka Amanda,
Tartan is a great Nail Tech with a big following and an amazing eye, huge creativity and this wee one completes the most stunning sets of nails and nail artwork.
We love her Scottish accent and all the tarts now say "Oh my God" in her voice. And as for her dancing... having choreographed the ever special "Nail desk" dance with the Chocmeister you can now see these moves in clubs in Puerto Banus and is seen in above pic!
The stunning Welsh Tart aka Kelly joined us after we met her when she booked her gorgeous daughter Maddie, a birthday party in Tart land.
It was love at first sight for us and we knew she was a Tart the minute we clapped eyes on her. We snapped her up and it has been a match made in heaven!
Hugely popular with Customers and Tarts alike she is a total professional who has won many a hair competiton in her native Wales. A dab hand at all things Make up too. Just don´t let her see your make up bag if its a mess.
The lovely Fit Tart aka Dorret is not called Fit for nothing - having been in the fitness industry for nearly 30 years this Tart beggers belief when it comes to looking good!
Looking at least 20 years younger then her years this Tarts favourite mantra when complimented on her toned body and fresh young face is "black don´t crack" If we could bottle her we´d be millionnaires, no make that Billionnaires!
Fit Tart has a large following for her Personal Training and has clients fly in from the UK for her massages.
Happiest when she´s grafting us Tarts with Kettle Bells in her hands she is trained in Manis and Pedis also and newly certificated in Acrylic Nails. Just keep her away from the Karaoke!
Our last new addition this month was the gorgeous Dublin Tart aka Tracey who joined team nails and is ace at pedicures and fullsets. .
Working part time in Tartland Tracey is co-owner of the "Girlie Shoppers". Gorgeous clothes and shoes handpicked by her and Joanne, they tour the coast with all the latest fashions.
By now our line up was looking a little like this and we launched our Tart of the Week comp - heres the 1st winner (We love you Trish!)
March also saw the launch of our Golden Token Loyalty scheme where questions were posed daily on Facebook and all those getting the answers right were rewarded with a Golden Token which when accumulated can be exchanged for money off treatments in the Land of Golden Tarts.
APRIL 2011
Onto April and wedding fever was in town with the much celebrated union of Prince William and Kate Middleton! We held a retro tea party with cheese and pineapple on sticks, egg sandwiches and wore Tiaras!
We thought Prince Harry looked hot and loved Kates dress.
Along with April came two more additions to the Tart family - The beautiful Dolly Tart aka Gabby and brave, brave Leon aka Man Tart.
Both joining the hair team, Man Tart as our resident barber bringing old skool shaves with hot towels and the works and Dolly with her creative, amazing Hair ups!
Man Tart has been barbering for 10 years, originally from Poland he has worked for the last 5 years in Dublin. Leon has built a steady stream of clients and is proving a hit now with the ladies with his fantastic restyles and great colours.
Trust us when we say this Tart really does have the moves like Jagger!
We finished April with our 1st Charity shave organised by the lovely May, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer. Henry from Henrys Bar was game as ever and had a full chest and back wax after completing the charity walk!
There was a huge turnout and a great day had by all. Thanks to everyone who showed their support.
MAY 2011
Things really started to heat up in May and we hit the 1000 Likes on our FB page!
To celebrate we held our long time coming opening party to which we had an overwhelming turnout, did a conga across the bridge, did Zumba on the beach and held lots of Tart games!
It was nothing short of marvellous, we had a great time, all thanks to you all who attended.
One of the most memorable moments was our "Tarts got Talent" competition which saw people enter our singing competition in front of 3 scary judges, with the winner recording vocals for our Global advert - Well done Kyah, who stole the show with her rendition of Valerie.
Special mention and big thanks to Gareth aka Filla Tart for compering the whole event so brilliantly and Henrys for letting us take over his bar all day and night and providing the food and drinks.
The month of May ended on a total high with some of the cast of the phenomon which is The only way is Essex booking in for treatments at the Land of Golden Tarts!
Arg, Lydia, Chloe, Maria and Frankie Essex all came in for pampering over the May Bank Holiday and were great sports, allowing us to publicise the fact that they were in the Land of Golden Tarts and were happy posing for hours with our customers who came on down to meet them..
We made a national newspaper with Scouse Tart and Welsh Tarts dress in a picture in the Daily Mirror and a mention and pictures on the Dail Mail online
Which takes us to June, half way into our 1st year and really getting into the swing of things!
Lots of lovely repeat and new customers and plenty of tourists making us their choice for their holiday pampering.
This month saw the introduction of the "Tarts on Tour" and the renowned Vajazzle!
"Tarts on Tour" saw teams of Tarts appearing at different venues around the coast bringing to them all shades of awesomeness.. 2 of our favourite venues were Jacksons in Funky Town and Splash, Riviera.
With the kids breaking up from school this month we opened the Golden Tarts Creche!
We played Bows and Arrows and made playdoh pictures and ate 10 tonne of Ice Cream.
JULY 2011
And so with the summer in full blast we headed into July.
Full steam ahead for a crazy busy month Improving what your Mamas gave ya and getting everyone beach ready.
We had a bit of remodelling ourselves, moving the Fish to towards the back of Tartland and moving the reception desk from the middle to the front. After which we needed a laydown so enjoyed a Tarts day out at the beach!
The Fish were flavour of the month when they were booked out for a secret mission....
They will be coming to a TV screen near you in Jan 2012, (we´ll keep you posted). To reward them we pimped their ride!
AUGUST 2011
And so we reach August and that heat! we had to succumb and install Air Con before Tartland melted and to celebrate this we had a Slush Puppie machine for the whole month. We didn´t put vodka in it at the weekends, well we did and spent the whole month suffering from brainfreeze!
That didn´t stop theTarts from completing some outstanding work in all departments including the "Have ém your way Nails" and the upto the minute Ombre hair and Brazillian Blowdries.
This month also saw Chocolate, Scouse and Vintage Tart head out to a Palace on the Costa Del Sol where they carried out treatments on a visiting Royal Family. We can´t say more than that incase we get our heads chopped off but we can tell you that it was an experience and a half. Thanks to those who made this possible.
We finished up the August Bank Holiday with a revisit from our favourite members of Towie and received a lot of press.
It was all about the Big Guns with King Tart getting in on the action when he did some Personal training with Arg.
This was covered by 3 online newspapers and pics were published in lots of the weekly chat magazinrs like Heat etc.... Heres more of the boy in action!
http://www.3am.co.uk/james-argent-takes-boxing-lessons-as-he-tries-to-lose-weight/28890/
Arg and Lydia also enjoyed more pampering in the land of Golden Tarts and the lovely PJ from http://www.celebritiesinmarbella.com/arg-lydia-towie was on hand to take fab pictures and get all the latest gossip.
August was also the month we saw two of our lovely customers, Sasha and Lucy tie the knot in style at Guey SkyBar.
Congratulations girls and heres to a long and happy future.
Onto September now and it was all about Hunks in Trunks and the Tarts on telly when we headed down to Buddha Beach for an appearance on ITV´s This Morning in return for a plug on their website.
We were turned down on our offer to oil and preen the hunks prior to their airtime but we did get to meet the lovel Matt Johnson and the fit, fit band the Overtones.
We took our favourite boy, Gareth along with us too, we didn´t see too much of him though as a certain Imogen Thomas caught his eye ha!
Vintage Tart spilt a cocktail over one of the Overtone boys and we (well me!) stepped on the back of little Harry from Towies flip-flop and sent him flying!
Great time though and it made my Nans day!

Still in September and we were asked to do a Charity Headshave in aid of a young girl with an incurable brain tumour - hosted at Our Bar in el Zocco, Man Tart and Vintage tart set about removing all the hair from the brave Maria Burkill.
And it was back to our friends at Our Bar to celebrate their first birthday with the Tarts behaving badly at their black and white themed party!
This month also so the start of our gorgeous new Beauty Tart, aka Essex Tart (Chloe) Who fitted straight into the team, it feels like she´s always been here and is a waxer supremo! Also joining the Tart was the lovely long legged Kirsty aka Karaoke Tart , also known as Speedy Tart - a total star under pressure with fantastic Acrylic and Gel nails turned out time after time. A firm favourite already in just the short time that she has been with us.
We rounded the month up with a fab hen Party booked into the shop one Saturday night after which the Tarts enjoyed a meal and a few drinks in El OCeano.
OCTOBER 2011
October and it was about the Tarts on Film.. We were involved with the lovely Miranda the publicist queen and did some filming in the shop - currently in the edit stages we wuill see our pilot in January and can´t wait to share it with you.
We also dicovered Scouse´s missed vocation as a director! Aww she has an eye for detail!
Final highlight for October was the shave of the Chocmeister!
Done by the fab Welshy with shaping from Man Tart we made her even more gorgeous and edgy!
NOVEMBER 2011
November and it was nose to the grindstone , busy, busy in Tartland but we squeezed a charity shave for Movember for the gorgeous Marcus Patterson whose alter ego is a Cheeky Butler!
The fantastic Man Tart went to work removing his 40 day old moustache!
Marcus is now the Tarts new pin up - we think he´s scared! Well done Marcus, fab cause.
Throughout November we were treated to the wicked tones of the alternative Boyband - The OAPs, Henry, Geoff and KP in full rehearsal for Britains got Talent - after a sucessful first audition you should be seeing more of them soon.
We Tarted them up for their trip to Liverpool and thought they looked totally handsome.
DECEMBER 2011
And so we come a full year and back to the Christmas season.
A full busy month in Tartland which has seen another change with the addition of a second beauty room.
We have had a fantastic 1st year and want to thank all of our customers for your continued support, acceptance of Golden Tarts and the way we roll and the brilliant ambience you have all helped us create and that has made the Land of Golden Tarts what it is today!
Special thanks to Henry, Anne-marie and the whole of the team at Henrys Bar for being the BEST neighbours a Tart could hope for and for supporting everything we throw at you....
